Mission Statement

The Mission of The Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation Housing Services Department is to achieve program and individual self-sufficiency through providing decent, safe, and sanitary housing for eligible low-income Native  American families residing in its properties, with preference given to Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation  Tribal members, elders, veterans, members with disabilities and families with children. The Housing Services  Department and Housing Services Board of Commissioners work to eradicate substandard housing, eliminate  homelessness, to offer assistance to new and current homeowners, and increase affordable rental housing and  homeownership opportunities for low and very low-income Native Americans.

Eligibility Requirments

Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) is income-based annual funding provided by Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The majority of this funding, along with housing program income, supports and supplements our tribally owned L-M Rental Program. Funding is also available for Down-Payment/Closing Cost Assistance and Homeowner Home Rehabilitation Assistance.

Homeowner Assistance Funding (HAF) offered by the US Treasury is available to low-moderate income families. Funding is currently available for qualified members who own their home and are behind on mortgage and approved utilities (ie: power, gas, water/sewer/garbage, and internet).
